From 32 North Avenue, Tusca-
loosa to Holt.

This 6.2-mile road will connect State Road 79 and
U.S. 72 northwest of Scottsboro with U.S. 72 south-
west of Scottsboro, creating a bypass of the main
business area. This access road will stimulate ex-
pansion of the industrial and recreation areas on
Guntersville Lake and along the Tennessee River,
and will serve plants now under construction in
this area.

This 5-mile road will provide access to industrial and
mining areas in Peterson, Holt, and Tuscaloosa, It
will serve the recreational areas near Holt lock and
dam. The road's completion will open an area per-
mitting expansion of the University of Alabama cam-
pus facilities and the State mental hospital's
facilities.

From State Road 79 neer Skyline The Skyline Management Area, a large recreational

and industrial resource area managed by the State
conservation department, will be made accessible by
the construction of a 13-mile road connecting
State Road 79 and Stephenson.
This 13-mile access road will connect U.S. 72 at Wood-
ville and U.S. 431 near Guntersville Lake via Grant.
It will be a direct benefit to a school consolidation
program, provide access for existing schools and
open available industrial sites and recreation areas
near Guntersville Lake.
Construction of this 6-mile road connecting U.S. 411
and U.S. 278 creates a Gadsden bypass. This bypass
will facilitate the school consolidation program and
provide access between residential areas and
industrial plants in the vicinity of Gadsden.
This 2.5-mile connecting road will provide access from
State Road 9 to State Road 25 and U.S. 278 bypassing
Piedmont. Improved access to markets for farmers
and stimulation of farm income by greatly reduced
transportation costs are direct benefits expected
from construction of this road. The school consolida-
tion program is assisted by the more direct route
this road creates.

This is a 7-mile access road, connecting U.S. 82 with
State Road 219 in the Talladega National Forest.
The road will provide access to timber resources
within the Talladega National Forest, stimulate de-
velopment of timber processing and wood-using
industries and open up camping and recreational

areas.

south of Wetumpka to Fort Tolouse. Fort Tolouse is
a historic fort located on the Alabama River. This
road will provide access to Fort Tolouse and to rec-
reational, fishing, and farming areas on the river.
This is a 1-mile access road from the paved county
road to Morgan Cove on Guntersville Lake. It will
provide access to Guntersville Lake for recreational
activities.

This 12-mile access road connects Interstate 65 with
U.S. 280 through Oak Mountain State Park. Better
access to park facilities for both tourists and resi-
dents of the Metropoltan Birmingham area is pro-
vided by this road.

This 15-mile access road connects U.S. 78 east of
Jasper with State Road 69 near Wilburn. It will pro-
vide access for a large part of Walker and Cullman
Counties to the Smith Lake-Sipsey Fork of Warrior
A River, a recreation development area,

This 7-mile access road from the paved county road
near Smithsonia to Gravelly Springs opens the large
Pickwick Lake area for recreation and residential
development.

This 3-mile access road connects Enid, near Lake
Mitchell, with the county road providing access to
the Mitchell Lake area for recreation and residential
development.

This 12-mile access road connects U.S. 431 in the
Talladega National Forest and Cheaha State Park.
It will provide access to Cheaha State Park where
facilities are available for camping, boating, swim-
ming, and fishing.

Approval of this 5-mile connecting road creates a by-
pass southeast of Scottsboro which will provide
better access to the large industrial development
area south of Scottsboro on the Tennessee River.
This bypass will serve plants now under construc-
tion and land available for development.

State of Georgia

This 3-mile road provides access from U.S. 278 north-
west of Rock:mart to State Road 113 northeast of
Rockmart. It will serve the Rockmart Industrial Park
and other industrial sites in or near the city of Lock-
mart.

This is a 3-mile access road forming a loop, north to
south, off to State Road 20 in Rome. The loop will
improve access to 2 large industries in the immediate
area, as well as smaller commercial operations, the
nearby residential section, and 2 proposed industrial
parks which are in the development stage.
Approval of 2.5-mile road from State Road 53, 7 miles
northwest of Gainesville, provides direct access to
the Duckett Mill Recreation Area on Lake Sydney-
Lanier. Duckett Mill Recreation Area is one of several
developing public recreation spots around Lake
Sydney-Lanier.

From U.S. 23 (a river bridge) to Kenwood Products plant.

From U.S. 220 and McMullen Highway to industrial park 0.5 mile south of Cumberland.

From U.S. Route 11 to industrial park.

Ths 0.35-mile road will provide access from U.S. 23 to
the new carpet manufacturing plant in West Louisa.
The plant site is a newly developed industrial loca-
tion for the area.

This is a 0.34-mile railroad overhead bridge from U.S.
27 to the John Sherman Cooper REA steamplant
which uses locally produced coal to produce electric
power. The new bridge will replace the existing struc-
ture which has been weakened. It will facilitate
transport of coal to the plant.

This 0.2-mile road and bridge will provide access to the
Paintsville industrial park. A wood products plant
(Kenwood) is to be constructed on this site. Develop-
ment of this industry, and other industries in the
park, will provide jobs and a market for locally pro-
duced raw materials.
