abound, to have nothing, as to possess all things: and though the fig tree should be withered, and no fruit be found on the vine, the labour of the olive fail, and the field yield no increase; though there shall be no sheep in the fold, or herd in the stall, no cattle in the pasture, or store in the garner, yet still to trust in that God who feeds the ravens, and the young lions when they call upon him: who can make rivers to flow from rocks, and furnish a table in the wilderness, by whom the very hairs of our head are all numbered, and in whom none ever trusted and were ashamed; that so having finished our course, and run our race, and lived the life of the righteous, our last end may be like his, and whenever these houses of clay shall be dissolved, our souls may be safely conveyed to the innumerable company of angels, to the spirits of the just made perfect, and God the judge of all. "And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors."

Heavenly Father, as we pray every day for our daily bread, we pray for the forgiveness of our sins; for we have all sinned and come short of the glory of God: in many things we all offend every day; who can tell how oft he offends? If thou shouldest mark ini.

quity, O Lord, who shall stand? But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared. God be merciful to us sinners. We have wasted our Lord's goods, we have buried the talents we were intrusted with, nor have we rendered again according to the benefits done unto us. We have done such things as are worthy of death; things for which the wrath of God cometh upon the children of disobedience. Our debt is a

great debt, and we have nothing to pay, but blessed be God there is a way found by which the debtor may go free. If any man sin we have an Advocate with the Father, even Jesus Christ the Righteous, and he is the propitiation for our sins. For his sake, we pray thee, blot out all our transgressions, and enter not into judgment with us: through him let us be reconciled unto God. Let the blood of Jesus Christ, thy Son, cleanse us from all sin, and purge our consciences from dead works, to serve thee the living God.

Heavenly Father, give us grace to forgive our enemies, to love them that hate us, and bless them that curse us; for we acknowledge if we forgive not men their trespasses, neither will our Father forgive our trespasses; and therefore we forgive, Lord, we desire heartily to forgive, if we have a quarrel

against any, even as Christ forgives us. Far be it from us to say that we will recompense evil, or that we should avenge ourselves: but we pray that all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, may be put away from us, with all malice; and that we may be kind one to another, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake, will forgive us. O make us merciful as our Father in heaven is merciful.

"And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.”

We know that no man can say when he is tempted, he is tempted of God; we are tempted when we are drawn away by our own hearts' lust and enticed. We therefore pray that we may not be given up to our own hearts' lust. And since we wrestle not only against flesh and blood, but against the rulers of the darkness of this world, let us be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Let nothing be an occasion of falling to us, but give us that great peace which they have that love thy law, whom nothing shall offend.

Lead us, O our Father, into all truth. Shew us thy ways, O God, and teach us thy paths; lead us in the paths of righteousness

for thy name's sake; may we be led beside the still waters. Deliver us, we pray thee, from the evil one; that he sow not his tares in the field of our hearts. Let the word of God abide in our hearts, that we may overcome the wicked one. Deliver us from every evil thing, Ọ deliver us from every evil work.

Save us from our sins, especially the sin that doth most easily beset us. Remove from us the way of lying; incline our hearts unto thy testimonies, and not to coveteousness; and keep us that we never speak unadvisedly with our lips; but especially keep back thy servants from presumptuous sins, let them not have dominion over us.

O thou that hast delivered, dost deliver, we trust that thou wilt yet deliver us from all our fears. O make us to dwell in safety, and grant that we may be quiet from the fear of evil, and bring us safe at last to that holy mountain, where there is no pricking briar, nor grieving thorn, nothing to hurt or destroy.
