It consists of both source documents and commentary on the historical trends to elaborate and codify international instruments and standards in this field (especially by the League of Nations system: 1919--1940, and the United Nations system: 1946--1994), as well as action taken by governmental, intergovernmental, and non-governmental organizations to promote and protect youth rights. It concludes with a call for a new international instrument and monitoring machinery to better promote and protect the rights of youth on a global basis. For ease of reference, the book contains a comprehensive bibliography and indexes of instruments, ratifications, correspondents, subjects and countries. |
