3. On motion of Rev. CALVIN E. SOCIETY held its Eighteenth Anniver- STOWE, D. D., Professor in Lane Semisary in the Broadway Tabernacle, New-nary, Cincinnati, O., seconded by Rev. York, on Wednesday evening, May 8th, BROWN EMERSON, D. D., of Salem, 1844. HENRY DWIGHT, Esq., President Mass. of the Society, took the chair, and the meeting was opened with prayer by Rev. ERSKINE MASON, D. D., of New York. The Treasurer's Report was read by Mr. JASPER CORNING, Treasurer of the Society.

An Abstract of the Annual Report of the Executive Committee was read by Rev. MILTON BADGER, one of the Secretaries.

The following resolutions adopted.

1. On motion of Rev. THERON BALDWIN, of Illinois, seconded by Rev. ERSKINE MASON, D. D., of New York,

Resolved, That the reports now read, be adopted, and published under the direction of the Executive Committee.

Resolved, That the Valley of the Mississippi is a part of the territory "between the river and the ends of the earth," (Ps. Ixxii. 8—Zech. ix. 10,) which belongs to Jesus Christ, by express grant from Almighty God; and that Je

sus Christ must have it.

4. On motion of Rev. JOHN TODD, of Pittsfield, Mass., seconded by Rev. E. P. BARROWS, of Hudson, O.,

Resolved, That the work of the American Home Missionary Society is commended to the friends of Christ, as an exhibition of the power of love over the human heart.

These resolutions were sustained by eloquent addresses from Rev. Messrs. BALDWIN, ROGERS, STOWE, and TODD,

2. On motion of Rev. WM. M. Ro-setting forth the appropriateness of GERS, of Boston, seconded by Rev. WM. J. ARMSTRONG, D. D., of New York,

Resolved, That the American Home Missionary Society is admirably adapted to meet the peculiar wants of the West.
