OPENING STATEMENT OF SENATOR JOHN WARNER,

CHAIRMAN

Chairman WARNER. The committee will come to order. The committee meets today to receive testimony concerning a key civilian nomination. General Gordon has been nominated to be the first Under Secretary of Energy for Nuclear Security, as well as the first Administrator of the National Nuclear Security Administration at the Department of Energy.

I support your nomination subject to what you say today. [Laughter.]
