the day of vengeance of our God. To co fort all thofe that mourn; to apply it to t mourners of Zion." &c.

From these fourteen great and importa prophecies of this Prophet, which I ha explained; it is demonftrable, that the fo lowing fourteen effential principles, mu neceffarily take place, at the time of the f ture redemption of the nation.

Those great events, as I have alread fhewn in the explanation of these prophecies and as I fhall farther prove in laying dow thofe principles, have never yet been fulfil led: not at their return from Babylon; no yet in the person of Jefus: the confequend is, that they remain to be fulfilled, at the re ftoration of the nation.

The first fundamental principle is, th vengeance which God will then take of the nations; by ftirring them up, to war with each other, in such a dreadful manner, that the like hath never yet been; as alfo with plagues and peftilence; fire and brimstone, and horrible tempefts, &c, from heaven: as fhewn, in the third, fourth, fifth, fixth, feventh, eighth, ninth, eleventh, and fourteenth prophecies: But, as no fuch war took

place, nor any fuch divine punishments
inflicted on the enemies of the nation, at their
return from the Babylonish captivity; it is
manifeft, that this principle, was not then
accomplished. The fame objection lies a-
gainst the perfon, and time of Jefus whence
it is demonftrable, that this principle remains
to be fulfilled in the latter days, immediate-
ly preceding the restoration of the nation, by
the true Meffiah.

The fecond principle is, that the vengeance which will be taken on Edom, and Botsrah, (which is Rome) will be far more dreadful, than that taken on any of the other nations; and those that escape of them, will not attain the same happiness which the other nations will, in regard to the light of truth, and the worship of the most High: as shewn in the fourth, fifth, fixth, and twelfth prophecies. This principle, it is manifest from all history, did not take place at their return from Babylon; nor yet in the time of Jesus: whence it is manifeft, that it remains to be fulfilled in the latter days.

The third principle is, the redemption, reftoration, and falvation of Ifrael, that is then

to take place as fhewn in the fecond, thir fourth, fixth, feventh, eighth, ninth, tent eleventh, twelfth, thirteenth, and fourteent prophecies. This glorious restoration of th nation, it is well known, hath never yet bee accomplished for their return from Baby lon, was in no way conformable to what predicted by the Prophet in these prophecies for then, the outcasts of Ifrael, and the dif perfed of Judah, were not gathered together as there was but a fmall pårt that returne from Babylon; and thofe of the lower or ders of the people only; the ten tribes tha were carried away by the king of Affyria, did not return: neither did thofe of Ifrael and Judah, that were in Egypt, the land of Ammon and Moab, in Gaul and Spain, and divers other parts, return. How then can it be faid, that thofe great and glorious promifes which speak of the restoration of the nation, were ever accomplished? Does not the Prophet speak clearly and explicitly of the complete restoration of the nation? when he fays, (Chap. xxvii. 13.) "And it fhall come to pass in that day, the great trumpet fhall be founded; and those shall come who

were perifhing in the land of Affyria, and

who

who were dispersed in the land of Egypt; and they shall bow themselves to the LORD, in the holy mountain in Jerufalem." Again, (Chap. xliii. 5.) "Fear thou not, for I am with thee from the east I will bring thy children, and from the weft I will gather thee together. I will fay to the north, give up; and to the fouth withhold not bring my fons from afar; and my daughters from the end of the earth :" &c. Besides a number of other paffages, to the fame purport, all which, is a manifeft proof, that it hath never yet been accomplished; and that it remains to be fulfilled in the latter days.

The fourth principle is, that at the future redemption, the ten tribes that were carried away captive, by Shalmaneser king of Affyria, will return; as fhewn in the second, fifth, and eighth prophecies; but this, it is well known, did not take place at their return from Babylon, as above fhewn.

The fifth principle is, that the future redemption will be entirely conformable to that of Egypt in every refpect; more efpecially in their exact conformity in the following particulars. First, that the whole nation will be redeemed; and that not one of them

will remain behind; in like manner, as no were left in Egypt; as the Prophet fay (Chap. xxvii. 12.) "And ye fhall be gle ned up, one by one, O ye children of I rael."

Second, that the nations that hold ther in fubjection, or fhall prevent their return will be utterly destroyed, as was Pharaoh and the Egyptians in the red fea.

Third, that their redemption will be by the hands of a great Prophet; eminent for his prophetic spirit, and the stupendous miracles that he will perform, as was Mofes, who redeemed them from Egypt.

Fourth, that God will utterly deftroy the tongue of the Egyptian fea, fo that there will be an highway for Ifrael, as when they came up out of Egypt: as fhewn at large, in the fecond and ninth prophecies; and which, is a demonstration, that thefe prophecies were not fulfilled at their return from Babylon; for that did not resemble their redemption from Egypt in any one particular*, here mentioned: nay, in one particular, it was diametrically oppofite; for
