457. P.M.-The heavenly Voyage. I JESUS! at thy command 2 3 4 5 6 Thou art my pilot wise; My compass is thy word; While I have such a Lord! I trust thy faithfulness and power, Yet Christ will safely keep, And guide me with his eye: My anchor hope shall firm abide, By faith I see the land, The port of endless rest; O may I reach the heavenly shore, Where winds and waves distress no more! Whene'er becalm'd I lie, And storms forbear to toss, Be thou, dear Lord, still nigh, Lest I should suffer loss, For more the treacherous calm I dread, To waft from all below To heaven, my destin'd place! Then, in full sail, my port I'll find, 458. C.M.-Perseverance. 1 REJOICE, believer, in the Lord, 2 Though many foes beset your road, Your life is hid with Christ in God, 3 Weak as you are, you shall not faint, 4 Though sometimes unperceiv'd by sense, 5 As surely as he overcame, And triumph'd once for you, 459. P.M." I will trust and not be afraid." Isa. xii. 2. 1 WHEN we cannot see our way, Since the Lord vouchsafes to lead. 3 Though it seems the gloom of night, 4 Night with him is never night; 5 Be it our's, then, while we're here, 460. C.M.—Establishment in Religion, from the God of all Grace. 1 Pet. v. 10, 11. 1 HOW rich thy favours, God of grace! How various and divine! Full as the ocean they are pour'd, And bright as heaven they shine. 2 He to eternal glory calls, And leads the wondrous way 3 Jesus, the herald of his love, And shews the purchase of his blood 4 He perfects what his hand begins, 5 The songs of everlasting years, That mercy shall attend, Which leads, through sufferings of an hour, 461. S.M.-Union with Christ. 1 Cor. vi. 17. 1 MY Saviour! I am thine, My name, my heart, I would resign, 2 To thee I still would cleave, Let millions tempt me Christ to leave, 3 His Spirit shall unite My soul to him, my Head; 4 Death may my soul divide, But love shall keep me near his side 5 Since Christ and we are one, If he in heaven hath fix'd his throne, 462. C.M.-"Will ye also go away?" John vi. 67-69. 1 WHEN any turn from Zion's way, (Alas! what numbers do!) Methinks I hear my Saviour say, "Wilt thou forsake me too!" 2 Ah, Lord! with such a heart as mine, Unless thou hold me fast, I feel I must, I shall decline, 3 Yet thou alone hast power, I know, 4 Beyond a doubt I rest assur'd 5 No voice but thine can give me rest No love but thine can make me blest, 463. C.M.-Adherence to Christ. John vi. 68, 69. 1 LORD! should we leave thy hallowed feet, 2 Unmingled joys 'tis thine to give, For thou canst teach us so to live, 3 Thou only canst the cheering words 1 2 464. S.M.-The Happiness and Security of Christ's Sheep. John x. 28. MY soul, with joy attend, While Jesus silence breaks; No angel's harp such music yields, "I know my sheep," he cries, "My soul approves them well; "Vain is the treacherous world's disguise, "And vain the rage of hell. 3 "I freely feed them now 4 "And, while my throne unshaken stands, "Shall all my chosen live. |
