To authorize appropriations for fiscal year 1982 for the Armed Forces for procurement of aircraft, missiles, naval vessels, tracked combat vehicles, torpedoes, and other weapons, for research, development, test, and evaluation, and for operation and maintenance, to prescribe the authorized personnel strength for each active duty component and the Selected Reserve of each Reserve component of the Armed Forces and for civilian personnel of the Department of Defense, to authorize the military training student loads, and for other purposes.

TITLE II-RESEARCH, DEVELOPMENT, TEST,

AND EVALUATION

AUTHORIZATION OF APPROPRIATIONS

SEC. 201. (a) Funds are hereby authorized to be appro10 priated for fiscal year 1982 for the use of the Armed Forces 11 of the United States for research, development, test, and 12 evaluation, as authorized by law, in amounts as follows:

For the Army, $3,905,200,000.

For the Navy (including the Marine Corps), $6,086,371,000.

For the Air Force, $9,398,100,000.

For the Defense agencies, $1,934,400,000, of

which $53,000,000 is authorized for the activities of

the Director of Test and Evaluation, Defense.

(b) In addition to the funds authorized to be appropri

21 ated in subsection (a), there are authorized to be appropriated 22 for fiscal year 1982, such additional sums as may be neces23 sary for increases in salary, pay, retirement, and other em24 ployee benefits authorized by law for civilian employees of
