[graphic]

Direct not him whose way himself will choose; 'Tis breath thou lack'st, and that breath wilt thou lose.

Delays have dangerous ends.

Delay leads impotent and snail-paced beggary.

Degree being vizarded,

Th' unworthiest shews as fairly in the mask.

Dogs are as often beat for barking,
As therefore kept to do so.

Doubting things go ill, often hurts more Than to be sure they do; for certainties Either are past remedies, or, timely knowing, The remedy then born.

Death remember'd should be like a mirror,
Who tells us, life's but breath; to trust it, error.

Distribution should undo excess,

And each man have enough.

Diseases, desperate grown,

By desperate appliance are relieved.

Dull not device by coldness and delay.

Dangerous conceits are in their natures poisons, Which at the first are scarce found to distaste; But with a little act upon the blood,

Burn like the mines of sulphur.
