The subcommittee has undertaken this study pursuant to the findings and recommendations of the full committee in its February 28, 1957, report on the January 1957 Economic Report of the President. These papers are presented in advance of the subcommittee's hearings, to be held November 18-27, to provide members of the subcommittee, the panelists, and the public an opportunity to examine the major issues lying within the scope of the study as they will be developed in oral statements and discussion at the hearings.
