BE IT REMEMBERED, that on the sixth day of April, A. "Memoirs of the late Mrs. Susan Huntington, of Boston, Mass., By Benjamin B. Wisner, Pastor of the Old South Church in Boston. Third edition. A FEW days after the delivery of the sermon which makes a part of this volume, a much esteemed member of the church under the pastoral care of the compiler, addressed to him a note which contained the following sentences,-"Conversing with some friends upon the subject of your discourse, delivered the last Sabbath, upon the death of our lamented Mrs. Huntington, it was concluded to consult you upon the expediency of giving to the public some of the productions of her pen, which are said to be valuable; connecting with them your sermon. How does the plan strike you? If favorably, will you undertake the selection, and the preparation of the volume?"—The work now presented to the public, owes its origin to this communication. It is, with diffidence, committed to the consideration of friendship, the candor of the public, and the blessing of Almighty God. If it shall be the means of recommending the religion of the Gospel to any individual, or of promoting the consolation and growth in grace of a single follower of Christ, the labor bestowed upon it will not have been in vain. Boston, May, 1826.

THREE editions of these Memoirs, each of two thousand copies, have been published and sold in the United States, and a fourth edition is now demanded. Several editions have also been published in Great Britain, at Edinburgh, and at Glasgow; the former with recommendatory notices by the Rev. DR. MUIR, and the Rev. DR. GORDON, distinguished clergymen of that city; the latter with the Introductory Essay and Poem, by JAMES MONTGOMERY, which make a part of this volume.— Mr. William Collins, of Glasgow, is publishing a "Series of SELECT CHRISTIAN AUTHORS, with INTRODUCTORY ESSAYS, designed to consist of the most popular and practical works on the subject of Christianity; to embrace the most valuable and select portions of eminent theological writers, whether of the Established, Nonconformist, or Dissenting denominations, and the Lives of those who have been eminent for piety, learning, and christian usefulness." The Series consists of such works as Baxter's Saints' Rest, Halyburton's Memoirs, M'Laurin's Essays, Doddridge's Rise and Progress of Religion in the Soul, Butler's Analogy of Religion, Edwards on Religious Affections, Owen on Indwelling Sin, Wilberforce's Practical View, Pascal's Thoughts, Bunyan's Pilgrim's Progress, &c. &c. The Introductory Essays are by the Rev. Thomas Chalmers, D. D., Thomas Erskine, Esq. Rev. Robert Gordon, D. D. William Wilberforce, Esq., Rev. Andrew Thompson, D. D., James Montgomery, Esq., Rev. Charles Simeon, Rev. John Foster, &c. &c The Memoirs of Mrs. Huntington are No. 41 of this series.
