Then opened he their Understanding, that they might underftand the Scriptures.

Mark xiii. 31. Heaven and Earth shall pass away, but my Word shall not pass away.

John xvii. 8, 20. I have given unto them the Words which thou gavest me, and they have received them, and have known furely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst fend me.

Neither prayu for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their Word.

Heb. ii. 3, 4. How shall we escape if we neglect so great Salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him?

God alfo bearing them Witness, both with Signs and Wonders, and with divers Miracles and Gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own Will.

Coloff. iii. 16. Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly in all Wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in Pfalms, and Hymns, and Spiritual Songs, finging with Grace in your Hearts unto the Lord.

Gal. i. 7, 8, 11. There be some that trouble you, and would pervert the Gospel of Chrift.

But the we, or an Angel from Heaven, preach any other Gospel unto you, than that we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

I certify you, Brethren, that the Gofpel which was preached of me is not after Man.

1 Tim. vi. 3. If any Man teach otherwise, and confent not to wholesome Words, even the Words of our Lord Jesus Chrift, and to the Doctrine that is according to Godliness,

He is proud knowing nothing.

2 Tim. i. 13. Hold faft the Form of found Words, which thou hast heard of me, in Faith and Love, which is in Christ Jefus.

2 Tim. iii. 3, 14, 15. Continue thou in the Things which thou hast learned, and baft been affured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them.

And that from a Child thou hast known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make thee wife unto Salvation, through Faith, which is in Christ Jesus.

James i. 21, 22, 23, 24, 25. Wherefore lay apart all Filthiness, and Superfluity of Naughtiness, and receive with Meekness the engrafted Word, which is able to fave your Souls.

But

But be ye Doers of the Word, and not Hearers only, deceiv ing your own felves.

For if any be a Hearer of the Word, and not a Doer, he is like to a Man beholding his natural Face in a Glass:

For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his Way, and firaitway forgetteth what manner of Man he was.

But whofo looketh into the perfect Law of Liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful Hearer, but a Doer of the Word, this Man shall be blessed in his Deed.

Luke vi. 47, 48. Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my Sayings, and doth them, I will shew you to whom he is like.

He is like a Man which built an House, and digged deep, and laid the Foundation on a Rock: and when the Flood arose, the Stream beat vehemently upon that House, and could not shake it : for it was founded upon a Rock.

Pf. i. 1, 2. Blessed is the Man that walketh not in the Counfel of the Ungodly, nor ftandeth in the Way of Sinners, nor fitteth in the Seat of the Scornful.

But bis Delight is in the Law of the Lord, and in his Law doth be meditate Day and Night.

Pf. xix. 8, 10, 11. The Statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the Heart: the Commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the Eyes.

More to be defired are they than Gold, yea than much fine Gold: fweeter alfo than Honey, and the Honey-comb.

Moreover, by them is thy Servant warned, and in keeping of them there is great Reward.

Pf. cxix. 9. Wherewithal shall a young Man cleanse his Way? by taking Heed thereto according to thy Word.

12. Blessed art thou, O Lord: teach me thy Statutes. 49. Remember thy Word unto thy Servant, upon which thou baft caufed me to hope.

73. Thy Hands have made me, and fashioned me, give me Understanding that I may learn thy Commandments.

89. For ever, O Lord, thy Word is fettled in Heaven. 96. I have feen an End of all Perfections; but thy Commandment is exceeding Broad.

105. Thy Word is a Lamp unto my Feet, and a Light unto my Path.

116. Uphold me according to thy Word, and let me not be ahamed of my Hope.

130. The Entrance of thy Words giveth Light: it giveth

Understanding unto the Simple.

133. Order

133. Order my Steps in thy Word, and let not Iniquity have Dominion over me.

155. Salvation is far from the Wicked: for they seek not thy Statutes.

165. Great Peace have they which love thy Law, and nothing shall offend them.

Rom. xvi. 25, 26, 27. Now to him that is of Power to stablish you according to my Gospel, and the Preaching of Jesus Christ according to the Revelation of the Mystery which was kept Secret fince the World began.

But now is made manifest, and by the Scriptures of the Prophets, according to the Commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all Nations for the Obedience of Faith.

To God only wife, be Glory through Jesus Christ for ever. Amen.

27 When he prepared the HEAVENS, I was there; when he fet a Compass upon the Face of the Depth.

28 When he established the Clouds above: when he strengthened theFountains of the Deep:

29 When he gave to the Sea his Decree, that the Waters should not pass his Commandment: when he appointed the Foundations of the Earth. 130 Then I was by him, as one brought up with him; and I was daily his DELIGHT; rejoycing always before him.

31 Rejoycing in the habitable part of his Earth, and my Delights were with the Sons of MEN.

-32 Now, therefore, hearken unto me, O ye CHILDREN, for blessed are they that keep my ways.

33 Hear Instruction and be wife, refuse it not.

34 Bleffed is the Man that heareth me, watching daily at my Gates; waiting at the Posts of my Doors.

LORD.

36 But he that finneth against me wrongeth his own Sour: All they that hate me love DEATH.
