We have all gone astray like lost sheep; we have grievously offended thee by transgressions of thy law and neglect of thy gospel; our omissions of duty are many; our sins have been wilful and perverse, repeated and accumulated; and even had we done all required of us we should have been but unprofitable Forgive the many sins even of this day, our negligence in the Lord's work, our eagerness in the trifles of time and sense, and our coldness and indifference about thy service, thy glory, thy ways, and the salvation of perishing souls. Pardon us

servants.

May we

freely, pardon us fully. Pardon us now. see and know the abundant redemption there is in Christ, and truly believe that he has put away our sin by the sacrifice of Himself.

Strengthen our faith in all that Jesus has done for us. May we know and rejoice in his saving grace, and may it effectually teach us to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts, and to live soberly, righteously and godly in this present world. Teach us ever to look for the glorious appearing of our Lord and Saviour. O may this blessed hope never be dimmed in our minds by the things which are seen and temporal, but may we ever be looking at those things which are not seen, and are eternal.

O Lord, may all our trials, sorrows, and difficulties work for our soul's welfare. May we give glory to thy wisdom and love, thy truth and holiness in them, and be preserved from all hard thoughts of

God, and all murmuring and repining against him. Yes, may we even be joyful in tribulation, knowing that tribulation worketh patience, and patience experience, and experience hope that maketh not ashamed. God Almighty grant us such grace that this blessed fruit may grow from all our troubles.

Bless all around us, and all for whom we ought to pray. Some are suffering from disease and sickness, and confined in their own chamber; visit them with thy grace and love. Some are in trouble and distress from losses and family afflictions; sanctify all for their good. Some are burdened with sin, lead them to Christ. Some are careless and impenitent, O awaken them to their real danger, and give them. true repentance. Some are scoffers; Lord, change and convert them, and bring them to a better mind. Grace and peace be to all thy saints. Add to their number continually, till all thine elect be gathered unto thy fold, and Jesus return in glory.

All praise be unto thee for continued mercies this day. The earth is full of thy goodness, and so is the great and wide sea. We bless thy holy name for all the riches of redeeming love in what is past, and what is present, and what is to come; and let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord, through Jesus Christ, our High Priest and Advocate, our Saviour and our Redeemer. Amen,

FRIDAY MORNING.

JEHOVAH ADORED, THE AID OF THE SPIRIT AND THE GRACE OF CHRIST SOUGHT, AND CONSIDERATION FOR OTHERS DESIRED.

Eternal Jehovah, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, the one living and true God, we bless thee, who hast called us to the knowledge of thyself, and given us the gracious title of sons and daughters in thy family, through faith in Jesus, the only-begotten Son of the Most High God. We now unite together with angels and archangels in praising thee, and saying, Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of Hosts, the whole earth is full of thy glory.

O Holy Spirit, the intercessor to help our infirmities in prayer, grant us thine aid that we may pray in the Holy Ghost, with all that faith and humility, that contrition and earnestness, and that glowing desire and love, which are the fruit of thy grace. Do thou enable us to offer up the fervent and effectual prayer that availeth much.

And, O Jesus, for ever blessed be thy name for that full propitiation for the sins of the whole world, which thou our High Priest hast made in thy own sacrifice on the cross, and which thou dost now, as our Advocate, plead with the Father for us. We would view thee as the Lamb slain, in the midst of

the throne in heaven, and would join the blessed company there in crying aloud, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain, to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing.

O divine Redeemer, who wast once crucified for us, ever let thy grace be imparted to us and be sufficient for us. May we now follow thee, and crucify the flesh with its affections and lusts, and be by thee crucified to the world and the world to us. O let not our treasure be in this world. Let none of us lay up treasures for ourselves where moth and rust corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal. May all of us lay up treasure for ourselves in heaven, that our hearts may be there where our treasure is. We earnestly beseech thee, O Father, draw us to Christ more and more; fill our souls with love to Him in whom thou delightest. Though we have not seen him, yet knowing his grace, may we fervently love him; and believing in him, may we rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory, receiving the end of our faith, even the salvation of our souls.

Grant to each member of our family first of all thy saving grace. O may the governing principle of our household be to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness.

Deliver us from pride, vanity and high-mindedness. Preserve us from despising others. Make us contrite and humble; make us meek, and patient,

and loving to all men, and especially to those in humbler circumstances. May we know that all we have is thine, and to be strictly accounted for to thee; and may we glory only in the Lord. Make us truly considerate of the wants, and feelings, and necessities of others, and deliver us from a contracted and narrow selfishness, from looking only at our own things and not at the things of others also.

We pray that the light of divine truth and the doctrine of free salvation through Jesus, may shine all over the world, and multitudes every where be enlightened and walk in the light of it. Convert Israel. Make Jerusalem a praise in the earth. Have pity upon our guilty land, and the multitudes amongst us who neglect thy great salvation, and live as without God in the world. Give us not over to wicked men and their evil counsels. But still spare us, and enable thy church joyfully to serve thee in all good works.

We ask every thing in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
