We are here today to consider Senate bill 2173, introduced by Senator Pepper for himself, Mr. Holland, Mr. Hayden, Mr. McFarland, Mr. Downey, Mr. Connally, Mr. O'Daniel, Mr. Morse, Mr. Cordon, and Mr. Cain. (S. 2173 is as follows:) [S. 2173, 80th Cong., 2d sess.] A BILL To amend the provisions of the Agricultural Adjustment Act relating to marketing agreements and orders Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Agricultural Adjustment Act, as amended, and as reenacted and amended by the Agricultural Marketing Agreement Act of 1937, as amended, is further amended as follows: (1) Section 8c (2), as amended (U. S. C., 1940 edition, title 7, sec. 608c (2)) is amended (a) by inserting the words "almonds, filberts," immediately after the word "including" contained in “including pecans and walnuts"; and (b) by inserting the words "citrus fruits and" immediately after the word "than" contained in "other than olives". (2) Section 8c (6), as amended (U. S. C., 1940 edition, title 7, sec. 608c (6)), is amended by deleting the provisions immediately preceding paragraph (A) thereof and inserting in lieu thereof the following: "(6) In the case of the agricultural commodities and the products, other than milk and its products, specified in subsection (2) with respect to which orders shall be applicable, orders issued pursuant to this section shall contain one or more of the following terms and conditions, and (except as provided in subsection (7)) no others :".
