SCHELLING BY FORMER STUDENTS ON HIS THIRTIETH ANNIVERSARY AS JOHN WELSH CENTENNIAL PROFESSOR OF HISTORY AND ENGLISH LITERATURE IN THE UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA THE papers in this volume have been contributed by several of Professor Schelling's students in commemoration of his thirtieth anniversary as John Welsh Centennial Professor of History and English Literature in the University of Pennsylvania. The bibliography of Professor Schelling's published writings was compiled by the editor. The publication of the volume was made possible by contributions from three sources: The College Alumni Society, the Class of '81, and the Department of English. Its appearance in its present form is due, however, in no small measure to the generous coöperation of its publishers.
