This morning we shall hear testimony on the overall budget of the Department of the Army, similar to that given yesterday by the Department of the Air Force. For the information of the members of the Committee, I wish to state that tomorrow we hope to hear the presentation of the Secretary of the Navy, the Chief of Naval Operations, and the Commandant of the Marine Corps. BUDGET REQUEST The budget requests for the Army to be considered by this subcommittee total $20,663,432,000 which does not include funds that will be required to cover the cost of civilian and military pay increases that became effective on January 1, 1971.
