From whence, in many Instances, is represented the much greater Things that should be the Souls of those that believe

effected

in him.

Most of thefe MIRACLES were wrought in the Sight of Multitudes of People.

John ii. I.

Water turned into Wine.

ND the third Day there was a MARRIAGE in Cana of Galilee; and the Mother of Jefus was there.

2. And both Jefus was called, and his Difciples, to the Marriage.

3. And when they wanted Wine, the Mother of Jesus faith unto him, They have no Wine.

4. Fefus faith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine Hour is not yet come.

5. His Mother faith unto the Servants, Whatsoever he faith unto you, do it.

6. And there were fet there fix Water Pots of Stone, after the manner of the Purifying of the Jews, containing two or three Firkins apiece.

7. Jefus faith unto them, Fill the Water Pots with Water. And they filled them up to the Brim.

8. And he faith unto them, Draw out now, and bare unto the Governour of the Feaft. And they bare it.

9. When the Ruler of the Feast had tafted the Water that was made Wine, and knew not whence it was, (but the Servants which drew the Water knew) the Governour of the Feaft calleth the Bridegroom,

10. And faith unto him, Every Man at the Beginning doth fet forth good Wine; and when Men have well drunk, then that which is worfe: but thou haft kept the good Wine until now.

11. This BEGINNING of MIRACLES did Jefus in Cana of Galilee, and MANIFESTED forth his GLORY; and his Difciples BELIEVED on him.

Difpoffeffing of Devils.

Luke AND he came down to Capernaum, a City of Galilee, and taught them on the Sabbath Days. 32. And they were ASTONISHED at his DOCTRINE: for his WORD was with Power.

How BELIEVERS are deliver'd from the Snares and Power of the Devil *.

Luke x. 17. And the Seventy returned again with Joy, faying, LORD, (a) even the DEVILS are fubject unto us through thy NAME.

18. And he faid unto them, I beheld SATAN as Lightning FALL from HEAVEN.

Chap. iv. 33. And in the Synagogue there was a Man which had a SPIRIT of an unclean DEVIL, and cried out with a loud Voice,

34. Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jefus of Nazareth? Art thou come to deftroy us? I know thee who thou art; the HOLY ONE of GOD.

35. And Fefus rebuked him, faying, Hold thy Peace, and come out of him. And when the DEVIL had thrown him in the mids, he came out of him, and hurt him not. 36. And they were all amazed, and fpake among themselves, faying, What a WORD is this? for with Authority and PowER he commandeth the unclean SPIRITS, and they come out.

37. And the Fame of him went out into every Place of the Country round about.

2. Wherein in Time past ye walked according to the Courfe of this World, according to the Prince of the POWER of the AIR, the SPIRIT that now worketh in the Children of Disobedience.

Heb. ii. 14. Forafmuch then as the Children are Partakers of fleth and Blood, he alfo himself likewife took part of the fame: that through Death he might deftroy him that had the Power of Death, that is, the DEVIL;

15. And deliver them, who thro' Fear of Death were all their Lifetime fubject to BONDAGE.

1 Pet. v. 8. Be SOBER, be VIGILANT; for your Advertary the DEVIL, as a roaring Lion, walketh about feeking whom he may devour.

9. Whom refift, stedfast in the FAITH, knowing that the fame AFFLICTIONS are accomplished in your Brethren that are in the World.

1 John iii. 8. He that committeth

SIN is of the DEVIL; for the DEVIL finneth from the Beginning. For this Purpose the Son of GOD was manifefted, that he might deftroy the Works of the DEVIL.

9. Whofoever is BORN of God, doth not commit SIN; for his Seed remaineth in him: and he cannot

fin, because he is born of God.

10. In this the CHILDREN of GOD are manifeft, and the CHILDREN of the DEVIL: whosoever doth not Righteousness, is not of

God, neither he that loveth not his Brother.
Rev. xx. 1. And I faw an Angel come down from Heaven, having a
Key of the Bottomless Pit, and a great Chain in his Hand.

2. And he laid hold on the DRAGON, that OLD SERPENT, which is the DEVIL and SATAN, and bound him a thousand Years,

3. And caft him into the BOTTOMLESS PIT, and fhut him up, and fet a Seal upon him, that he should deceive the Nations no more, till the thousand Years fhould be fulfilled: and after that he must be loofed a little Scafon.

Rev. xii. 10. And I heard a loud Voice, faying in Heaven, Now is Come SALVATION and STRENTGH, and the Kingdom of our God, and the Power of his Chrift: for the ACCUSER of our Brethren is caft down, which ACCUSED them before our God Day and Night.

11. And they OVERCAME him by the BLOOD of the LAMB, and by the WORD of their Tellimony; and they loved not their Lives unto the Death.

CHRIST paffeth over into the Country of the Gergefenes, rebuketh the Winds, &c.

[L]NOW OW it came to pafs on a certain Day, that he went into a Ship; [M] and when he was entred into a Ship, his Difciples followed: [L.] And he faid unto them, Let us go over unto the other Side of the Lake. And they launched forth, [Mr.] and there were also with him other little Ships. [L.] But as they failed, he fell afleep: [M] And behold there arofe a great Tempeft in the Sea, [L.] and there came down [M.] a great Storm of Wind [Z] on the Lake, [Mr.] and the Waves beat into the Ship, [M] infomuch that the Ship was covered with Waves, [Mr.] fo that it was now full, [L.] and they were filled with Water, and were in Jeopardy: [Mr.] and he was in the hinder Part of the Ship, afleep on a Pillow. [M.] And his Difciples came unto him, [.] and awoke him, faying, Mafter, Mafter, we perish; [Mr.] Master, careft thou not that we perifh? [M.] Lord, fave us; we perifh. And he faith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of LITTLE FAITH? Then he arofe, and rebuked the Winds and the Sea, [Z.] and the raging of the Water, [Mr.] and faid unto the SEA, Peace, be STILL: and the Wind ALLAYED, [L.] and they ceafed, [Mr.] and there was a great CALM. And he faid unto them, Why are ye fo fearful? how is it that ye have not FAITH? [L.] where is your FAITH? [Mr.] And they feared exceedingly. [M] But the Men marvelled, faying [Z.] one to another, What manner of Man is this? for he commandeth even the WINDS and WATER, [M.] that even the WINDS and the SEA obey him?

CHRIST by his Word having allayed the Winds and Waves, heals the Poffelfed of Devils in the Country of the Gergefenes.

Luke viii. 26. Mark ix. 26. Matt. viii. 28.

[L.]AND they failed, [Mr.] and came over unto the other fide of the Sea, into the Country of the Gadarenes, [L.] which is over against Galilee. [M] And when he was come to the other Side, into the Country of the Gergefenes, [Mr.] and when he was come out of the Ship [.] to Land, [M.] there met him two poffeffed with DEVILS, coming out of the Tombs exceeding FIERCE, fo that no Man might pafs by that Way. And behold they cried out, faying, * What have we to do with thee, Jefus thou SON of GOD? Art thou come hither to TORMENT us before the TIME?_[Mr.] Immediately, I fay, there met him out of the Tombs, a Man with an unclean SPIRIT, [L.] a certain Man out of the City, which had DEVILS long time, and ware no Clothes, neither abode in any Houfe, but [Mr.] had his Dwelling among the Tombs; and no Man could bind him, no not with Chains: becaufe that he had been bound with Fetters and Chains, and the Chains had been plucked afunder by him, and the Fetters broken in pieces: neither could any Man tame him. And always Night and Day he was in the Mountains, and in the Tombs, CRYING, and CUTTING himself with Stones. But when he faw Jefus afar off, he came and WORSHIPPED him, and CRIED with a loud Voice, and faid, What have I to do with thee, Fefus, thou SON of the MOST HIGH GOD? [Z.] I befeech thee, [Mr.] I adjure thee by God that thou TORMENT me not. [L.] For he had commanded the unclean SPIRIT to come out of the Man: [Mr.] For he said unto him, Come out of the Man, thou unclean SPIRIT. [L.] For oftentimes it had caught him, and he was kept bound with Chains, and in Fetters; and he brake the Bands, and was driven of the DEVIL into the Wilderness. And Fefus afked him, faying, What is thy Name? [Mr.] And he anfwered, faying, My Name is LEGION; for we are
