XXXIX. The First Sunday in Advent.

A PRAYER FOR CONVERSION FROM SIN.

1. Almighty 1. It is God which worketh in you both to will God, give us and to do, of his good pleasure. Phil. ii. 13. This we may cast is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, darkness, and because their deeds were evil: for every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved: but he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God. John iii. 19, 20, 21. Without me ye can do nothing. John xv. 5. In the day when I cried thou answeredst me, and strengthenedst me with strength in my soul. Psal. cxxxviii. 3. Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. Eph. v. 11. Let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Rom. xiii. 12. If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth; but if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. 1 John i. 6, 7.
