May all of this household be warned to flee from the wrath to come, fly to the ark prepared for saving it as doves to their windows, with full purpose of heart give themselves unto the Lord, never be entreated to leave Thy people, never be terrified by any adversaries, never be turned aside after Satan! May none of us be satisfied in seeming to be religious, none be the living sepulchre, none be the spiritually dead. Let us all think of our accountability, let us beware of the many stripes. Endow us with

a name and a place better than that of sons and of daughters!

We would plead with Thee for all the ministers of Christ. Inspire them with compassion for souls. May they feed the Church of God which he hath purchased with his own blood, the Church of which the Holy Ghost hath made them overseers. May each pastor think of that hour when the Chief Shepherd shall demand of him: Where is the flock that was given thee, thy beautiful flock? May the idol shepherd tremble lest the sword be upon his arm, and upon his right eye, that arm which it shall clean dry up, that right eye which it shall utterly darken ! Remember Thy Congregation which Thou hast purchased of old. May Thy people preserve the order and fellowship of the Gospel. May they continue in the present truth. May

they be zealous of good works, and be careful to maintain them for necessary uses. Above all, may they love one another!

Go forth with our Missionary army. Let it be a band of men whose hearts Thou hast touched. May Thy right hand and holy arm get for them the victory. Give them a banner because of the Truth. Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for their help. Deliver them not over to the will of their enemies; for false witnesses have risen up against them, and such as breathe out cruelty. Subdue the people under Thee! May all dominions serve and obey Thee!

May we now take rest in sleep. And while the slumber of the wicked is as the man that lieth down in the midst of the sea, or as he that lieth down upon the top of a mast,-let our repose be gentle as the infant's dream and holy as the prophet's vision.

Blessed Jesus! Thou hast taught us to ask the Father in Thy Name. We feel the privilege! We own Its power, we love Its sound, we plead Its merit! And now be glory to the Father, Who hath borne witness concerning the Son,to the Son, Who is the Author and Finisher of our faith,—and to the Spirit of Truth! Amen. "The grace of our Lord," &c.

SATURDAY MORNING.

THOU, O Lord! art nigh unto all them that call upon Thee, to all that call upon Thee in truth! Thou wilt fulfil the desire of them that fear Thee! Thou also wilt hear their cry, and wilt save them! They are the most honoured who are distinguished among them that call upon Thy Name! And it is good to sing praises unto our God for it is pleasant, and praise is comely. Thy Name alone is excellent. Thy greatness is unsearchable. Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord!

Where, O God of holiness, can Thyself and sinners meet? On what common ground may a Being so dread, and creatures so vile, face each other? Is there a point of contact? Thou hast taken Thy station, and we approach Thee. Thou dost speak, and we attend. Thou drawest nigh unto us, to Thee will we draw nigh. Thou hast left Thine honours to the vindication of the Cross, to its protection we commit our souls. In its Atonement Thou art glorified, and by its Atonement we would be saved. Here, O Lord God! Thou art ready to forgive, Thou waitest to be gracious, Thou dost incline Thine ear, Thou dost abundantly pardon!

We adore Thee for the discoveries of Thy

Word. It is righteous altogether. It is true from the beginning. Concerning Thy testimonies, we have known of old, that Thou hast founded them for ever. May it be our delights, the lamp to our path, our honeycomb of sweetness. Let us have respect to it continually; may it do good to us; may it dwell within us very richly as the word of truth-as the word of grace as the word of reconciliation-as the word of wisdom-as the word of life. May we search the Scriptures whether the assertions of men be so. May we by them become wise unto salvation !

Convince us, O Holy Spirit! of sin. Lay us low in our own esteem. Bow down our neck alway. Clothe us with humility. Then only shall we truly pray and repent. Then only shall we believe with our heart unto righteousness. Let us feel that we are the sick who need the Physician! Let us feel that we are poor and miserable and blind and naked! Out of the depths may we cry unto Thee, O Lord! We renounce our many inventions. We fling from us our righteousnesses as so many filthy rags. Beautify us then, being the meek, with salvation. O Jesus! be surety for Thy servants. Thoroughly plead our cause. Lamb of God! Who takest away the sins of the world, have mercy upon us! Lamb of God, Who

takest away the sins of the world! grant us Thy peace!

Grace for grace we ask of Thee, because Thou givest more grace. May we not only have access into Thy grace as a state of favour, but may our hearts be established by grace. May we be Thy workmanship created in Christ Jesus unto good works. Let Thy life be strong in us. We seek not to the divers washings, but to the washing of regeneration and the renewing of the Holy Ghost. May that which is within be transcribed on our conduct, and may we abide in Him without Whom we can do nothing.

Receive our adoring acknowledgments for the necessaries and conveniences which we enjoy as a family. Thou hast not dealt so with many. For great is Thy mercy toward us. Truly Thou art good to us. Our souls, wait ye only upon God, for our expectation is from Him! Thou hast preserved us during this night. We asked life of Thee, and Thou givest it us. Thou keepest us as the apple of the eye, Thou hidest us under the shadow of Thy wings. With favour dost Thou compass us as with a shield. The Lord is our stay. We will offer to Thee the sacrifices of righteousness, joy, and praise!

Bind us to Thy service. Consecrate us for evermore. Take us and engrave us as a signet.
