June 20 to 22, 1975: 115 rooms for NBC at the Ahwahnee. July 12 to 20, 1975: Curry Housekeeping, 45-plus rooms, California Bible Conference. And then you've got: August 5 to 11, 1975, Wawona, 16 rooms; August 15 to 17, 1975, 10 rooms; September 27 to October 1, Ahwahnee, 50-plus, 115, plus 85-all from Northern California. New York Life, October 3 to 7, 1975, Ahwahnee and Lodge, New York Life, Southern California, 30 plus 115 plus 45. And then, we come over here to May 3 to 6, 1979: Lodge and Ahwahnee, 150-plus 113 rooms, California Medical Association, Post Grad Institute. November 9 to 11, 1979, Ahwahnee, 115; May 1 to 4, 1980, Ahwahnee, 115 plus 150 at the Lodge. Then we read from the brochure: Of course, walking along the valley trails, discovering hidden meadows and exploring the beaches and streams is an unforgettable experience any time of the year. And incidentally, returning to convention bookings, I understand when that happens the concessioner closes the dining rooms so they are not available for other folks. Here are some past bookings: May 4, 1972: Ahwahnee, California Medical Association, dinner, luncheondinner, break fast-luncheon-dinner. You've got the United Foundation for Medical Care, May 7 and May 8, 1972. I find one here for February 1975. California Medical Association Conference on Human Sexuality. Coming over here, we've got bookings, and by a curious coincidence these bookings for conventions go up; they are projected pretty well. Totals in 1973 are 11,035; 1974, 11,846; 1975, 12,052-a steady upward climb in terms of this kind of use. Now, here is the interesting thing on convention bookings: Your big use occurs during the summer months. Your total bookings in May 1973 are 1,788; June, 1,284-this is in 1973-July falls to 400, and August falls to 59. In 1974, it starts off in May at 1,903; 959 in June; 921 in July, and 539 in August. In 1975, we have 2,967 in May; 878 in June; 1,334 in July; and 640 in August. |
