Foreign policy aspects of the war against terrorism: seventh report of session 2003-04, Том 1The Stationery Office, 2004 - Всего страниц: 174 This is the Committees fifth report on foreign policy aspects of the war against terrorism since the events of 11 September 2001. It makes 74 conclusions and recommendations on a broad range of issues, including the political and security situations in Iraq and Afghanistan and related reconstruction issues; the role of Pakistan in the war against terrorism and human rights issues; Russias foreign policy role, the war in Chechnya, chemical weapons stockpiles and non-proliferation programmes; the Israeli-Palestine conflict; international law aspects, including collective action through the UN, anticipatory self-defence and humanitarian intervention; and the continuing threat from al Qaeda. The text of UN Security Council Resolution 1546, adopted in June 2004, is included as an appendix. The range of issues discussed reflects the Committees view that the diverse threats to security posed by terrorism and failed states are, or could become, inter-connected, and that they need to be considered and countered as part of a coherent strategy. |
