SEAL.

BE IT REMEMBERED, that on the twenty-second day of November, in the thirty-fourth year of the independence of the United States of America, A. D. 1809, Hopkins and Earle, of the said district, have deposited in this office the title of a book, the right whereof they claim as proprietors, in the words following, to wit:

“A Plain Elementary and Practical System of Natural Experimental Philosophy; including Astronomy and Chronology. By the late Rev. John Ewing, D. D. Provost of the University of Pennsylvania. Being the Course of Lectures delivered by him in that Seminary, (Enlarged and Improved from time to time,) for upwards of twenty years. Illustrated by Copperplate Engravings. The whole carefully Revised and prepared for the Press, with sundry Explanatory and Supplementary Notes; By Robert Patterson, Professor of Mathematics in the said University. With a Biographical Sketch of the Author."

In conformity to the act of the Congress of the United States, intituled, "An act for the encouragement of learning, by securing the copies of maps, charts, and books, to the authors and proprietors of such copies during the times therein mentioned." And also to the act, entitled "An act supplementary to an act, entitled 'An act for the encouragement of learning, by securing the copies of maps, charts, and books, to the authors and proprietors of such copies during the time therein mentioned,' and extending the benefits thereof to the arts of designing, engraving, and etching historical and other prints."
