in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God. 1 John iii. 24. And he that keepeth his commandment dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us. Jude 19. These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit, Gal. v. 16—18. This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lusts of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary the one to the other; so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. But if ye be led by the Spirit, ye are not under the law. Gal. vi. 8. For he that soweth to the flesh, shall of his flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit, shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. Rom. viii. 13. 26. For if ye live after the flesh ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit, do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what things to pray for, as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us, with groanings which cannot be uttered. 2 Cor. vi. 4. In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them that believe not, lest the light of the glorious Gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them, John xii. 31. Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out. John xiv. 30. Hereafter I will not talk much with you, for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me. Prov. xxii. 4. By humility, and the fear of the Lord, are riches, honour, and life. Matt. xviii. 4. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself, as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of God. Phil. iv. 6. Be careful for nothing; but in every thing, by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God. 1 Tim. iv. 4. For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving. Ephes. v. 20. Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

James iii. 2. For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body. John xv. 5. I am the Vine, ye are the branches: he that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit; for without me, ye can do nothing. 1 John i. 8. If we say that we have no sin we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. Rom. vii. 18, 19. For I know that in me (that is in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which I will, I know not. For the good that I would, I do not: and the evil that I would not, that I do. Matt. v. 48. Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. Ephes. iv. 13. Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ. Phil. iii. 13. Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Ephes. i. 6. To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the Beloved. 1 Pet. ii. 5. Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. James ii. 9. But if ye have respect of persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as nsgressors. John xvi. 8. And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment. Lev. xx. 7, 8. Sanctify yourselves, therefore, and be ye holy: for I am the Lord your

God. And ye shall keep my statutes and do them: I am the Lord which sanctify you. Rom. vii. 7. 12. What shall we say then, Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet. Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good. Rom. iii. 9. 20. 23. What then? Are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. Psal. xix. 11, 12. Moreover by them is thy servant warned, and in keeping of them there is great reward, Who can understand his errors? Cleanse thou me, from my secret faults. Gal. iii. 21. Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law. Rom. x. 4. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness, to every one that believeth.

SECTION VII.

James ii. 11, 12. For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law. So speak ye, and so do, as they that must be judged by the perfect law of liberty. Exod. xx. 1, 2. And God spake all these words, saying, I am the Lord thy God which brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. Hab. i. 13. Thou art of purer eyes than to behold evil, and canst not look upon iniquity: wherefore lookest thou upon them that deal treacherously, and holdest thy tongue when the wicked devoureth the man that is more righteous than he. 1 John iii. 4. Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law; for sin is the transgression of the law. Rom. vii. 12. Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good. Ephes. v. 6.

Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Gal. iii. 10. For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them. Jer. ii. 8. The priests said not, Where is the Lord? and they that handle the law knew me not: the pastors also transgressed against me, and the prophets prophesied by Baal, and walked after things that do not profit. Eccles. xii. 13. Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. 2 Sam. xii. 14. Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin. Jer. v. 4, 5. Therefore I said, Surely these are poor; they are foolish: for they know not the way of the Lord, nor the judgment of their God. I will get me unto the great men, and will speak unto them; for they have known the way of the Lord, and the judgment of their God: but these have altogether broken the yoke, and burst the bonds. 1 Sam. ii. 25. If one man sin against another, the judge shall judge him: but if a man sin against the Lord, who shall intreat for kim? Notwithstanding they hearkened not unto the voice of their father, because the Lord would slay them. Acts v. 4. Whiles it remained, was it not thine own; and after it was sold was it not in thine own possession? Why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? Thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God. Rom. ii. 4. Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness, and forbearance, and long-suffering: not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance? Heb. ii. 2, 3. For if the word spoken by angels was steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense

of reward; how shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him? Heb. x. 29. Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? Ephes. iv. 30. And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Heb. vi. 4—6. For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, if they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance, seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. Jude 8. Likewise also these filthy dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities. Prov. xxx. 17.
