THE great work of God the HOLY GHOST, in the miniftry of his facred word, and in his gracious influences fhed abroad on the minds of his people, is to exalt the Son of GOD: JESUS himself so marked his character; when speaking of him, he said, He shall glorify.
Hence it will undeniably follow, that the great object of the gospel ministry fhould be directed to the promotion of the fame bleffed purpose. And the highest teftimony of any man's being called and fent forth by the HOLY GHOST, to minister in the church of JESUS, is, when that man makes CHRIST, the Alpha and Omega of all his ministerial labours.
In this view, Mr. PIERCE's writings appear to me eminently diftinguished: the leading tendency of the whole being directed to fet forth the LORD JESUS, in his effential, perfonal, relative, and mediatorial glories.
