which we have committed; all the temptations to which we are exposed; the weakness and waywardness of our hearts, and the many snares cast in our way by our great enemy Satan. Succour us and deliver us, we beseech thee. Thou knowest how the enemy oppresses our souls, strives to dim the view of Jesus our mighty Deliverer, to fill us with despondency, and to turn away our minds from the coming glory, and keep us wholly engrossed with this vain world. Mighty indeed are the obstacles in our way, yet we know thou hearest, we know thou answerest prayer; give unto us then much of the spirit of prayer; may we never feel that Satan is unconquerable, but may we know that he is subdued and vanquished, and that if we resist him he will flee from us. Enable us then ever to resist the Devil, and bruise him under our feet very shortly. Thou knowest how great our outward mercies and how many our spiritual blessings have been, and how little we have improved them. We have reason to confess before thee our want of faith, and earnestness, and zeal; our coldness, and spiritual deadness, and indifference, and emptiness. Oh blot out all our sins, and give to us thy quickening Spirit, and create in us a clean heart, and renew a right spirit within us, and by thy omnipotent strength, may we have victory and prevail over the world, the flesh, and the devil.

O Lord, give us to know the depth of thy eternal

love to us; teach us thy heavenly truth and the exhaustless fulness of its treasures; make us thus wise unto salvation, through faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, and enrich our souls for eternity. Help us to rejoice in the Lord alway, and may this joy be our strength in our conflict with our many spiritual foes. Especially give us victory over the love of the world, and the covetous desires of its pleasures, riches, and honours. Let not love of ease and quiet, let not selfindulgence and home comforts keep us from duty. Let us not mind high things, but condescend to men of low estate, visiting the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and keeping ourselves unspotted from the world.

O Lord, bless.our church and our country; spare us, though we deserve thy judgments; give us repentance. May those who rule set Christ always before them; those who minister in holy things be endued with power from on high, and thy church be protected, instructed and enlarged continually. Hear us, according to the fulness of thy grace in Christ Jesus.

SATURDAY MORNING.

FOR REPENTANCE, FAITH, AND HOLINESS. Eternal and all-glorious Lord, infinite in wisdom, almighty in power, spotless in holiness, and boundless in love, we praise and magnify thee that thou

hast revealed thyself to us sinners, in the costly sacrifice of the precious blood of Christ, as our reconciled Father, and all thy perfections as our portion and joy for ever. Sinful and guilty as we are, we can and we do now bless the holy name of our God, who forgives all our iniquities and heals all our diseases, redeems our life from destruction, and crowns us with loving-kindness and tender mercies.

We farther ask of thee

We bless thee for the assurance that with thy only Son also thou freely givest us all things. We ask then first for a genuine and deep repentance for sin, that we may ever view our sins with godly sorrow and unfeigned abhorrence. a full and entire trust in the Lord Jesus Christ; give us a simple confidence in his atoning blood, a constant regard to his sacrifice for our sins, that by the sprinkling of the blood of Jesus our conscience may be pacified. O may we know each of us, in our happy and daily experience, what it is to be elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father unto sanctification and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ. May this blood not only deliver our conscience from the load of guilt and our souls from the curse of the law, but may it deliver us from the power of corruption, and inwardly cleanse and purify our hearts from the love and pollution of sin. Like Noah, may we find grace in thy sight, and be just and upright in our generation, and walk with thee. Carry on thy work daily in us, till at length,

perfectly free from all sin, we join the blessed company above, who have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

Give us now grace and strength cheerfully and gladly to fulfil our duties this day. Bless our intercourse with each other, and with all our fellow-men. Grace and peace be multiplied to the saints and faithful brethren every where. Heal the divisions of thy people, and make them of one mind and of one heart. Bless our magistrates and all in authority. Relieve the distressed. Enlarge that blessed kingdom which is righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Ghost, and may thy Holy Spirit every where be given to thy ministers, filling them with heavenly wisdom to instruct and profit thy people on the morrow, in all the churches of Christ through the world. Hear us for his name's sake.

SATURDAY EVENING.

FOR FAITH, HOPE, AND LOVE, AND HEAVENLY WISDOM. We praise thee, O God, for the mercy which preserves us from day to day and from week to week, and which has brought us in peace to the close of this week. Prepare us now to come before thee in prayer. Give us a lively faith in thy goodness, love and all-sufficiency, and a spirit of fervent and enlarged desire for thy grace: according to thine own

most gracious promise, Open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.

O Lord, like thy holy Apostles of old, we would earnestly call upon thee as they did, Lord! increase our faith; now our faith is weak and feeble, but grant that we may grow strong in faith, and give glory to thee, and thus attain inward purity and victory over the world.

Nor let our hope grow dim, but as time rolls on may our expectation of thy glory become more lively; may we lift up our eyes to the eternal hills, look for thy coming, and long for the happy period when the kingdom and dominion and greatness of the kingdom under the whole heaven shall be given to the people of the saints of the Most High, whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.

Grant that our love also may grow warmer and abound more and more in all judgment and knowledge. May we think of all that thou hast done for us, and dwell on the infinite fulness of thy eternal compassion. O may we be merciful as thou art merciful, and dwell in love and in the constant exercise of all its forbearing, patient, self-sacrificing, kind, and laborious efforts for the good of others.

Give us also heavenly wisdom to direct us in thy way. When we would serve thee, through our spiritual blindness, we know not how to do so, or what to do, till thou impart to us the heavenly gift. Make
