THE BUREAU OF ENGRAVING
AND PRINTING is the Government factory for
the designing, printing, and engraving of bonds, certificates, checks, notes,

revenue and postage stamps, and many other official papers. It is a
handsome red brick building 220 x 135 feet, and was built in 1878 at a
cost of $300,000.
