THESE simple records of the lives of "Holy Women of Old," are intended chiefly for the use of those who are engaged in the important and deeply interesting work of conducting Mothers' Meetings; the want of suitable books to read on such occasions is often complained of, and it has been the object of the writer to assist in the supply of that want. Some apology may, however, seem necessary for her selection of subjects, which have already been ably treated by others; but, the works referred to were, for the most part, written for a different class of readers, and are better adapted to more highly educated minds. |
