The subcommittee met at 2 o'clock p. m., the Honorable Carroll B. Kearns (chairman of the subcommittee) presiding.

Present also: Irving G. McCann, general counsel to the committee, and Otto J. Emme, appearing for the Musicians Mutual Protective Association, Local No. 47, A. F. of M.

Mr. KEARNS. The committee will come to order.

Mr. MCCANN. Mr. Chairman, I will call the roll of the witnesses. Ward Archer.

Mr. ARCHER. Here.

Mr. MCCANN. Mr. Lee MacQuarrie.

Mr. MACQUARRIE. Here. Do you want my full name on that, Mr. McCann?

Mr. MCCANN. Yes.

Mr. MACQUARRIE. Hector Cameron Lee MacQuarrie.

Mr. MCCANN. Mr. J. K. "Spike" Wallace.

Mr. WALLACE. You don't want my complete name, do you?

Mr. MCCANN. No.

Mr. MCCANN. Will you please all raise your right hands to be

sworn.

(Whereupon Witnesses Archer, MacQuarrie, Wallace, Bale, and Reed were duly sworn.)

Mr. MCCANN. I now move we adjourn to room 229, Federal Building, and proceed with the hearing there.
